Gameplay and Multiplayer

In BioShock 2 players will take on the role of the original Big Daddy, not that of game one protagonist, Jack. As a Big Daddy you will have access to all the strengths and weapons of a standard Big Daddy, including the drill and rivet gun. More importantly you also possess free will and the ability to use plasmids and gene tonics — genetic modifications allowed for through ADAM, a stem cell harvested from conquered enemies, or sea slugs outside the Rapture air lock, and powered by the in-game injectable serum known as EVE, which can be found, captured or purchased. Plasmids and gene tonics provide a wide range of aggressive and passive abilities which can be upgraded and arranged for quick use. The ability to use plasmids and tonics gives you a decided edge over other Big Daddies and most other denizens of Rapture, excluding the powerful Big Sisters. In addition, due to their role as a Big Daddy, players will experience a new relation to the Little Sisters. Upon defeating standard Big Daddys you are given the familiar choice as to whether to harvest or adopt them. Harvesting gains you ADAM immediately, but could alter your path through the game, while adopting makes you responsible for Little Sisters, who then accompany you through Rapture, but also provide aid and warning in times of danger. Additional gameplay features include: new plasmids, weapons and the ability to combine these two.

The game also features the anticipated multiplayer modes. Several of these are team-based, allowing up to 10 players. Within these players are provided with a rich prequel experience that expands the origins of the BioShock fiction, and allows you to play as one of several characters pulled from Rapture's history before the events of the first game.

Need for Speed Underground

Need for Speed Underground

By C. Conard "ExtremeAvalanche" (Fort Collins, CO) -  reviews

Any fan of the Need For Speed series will be able to tell one thing from Need for Speed Underground, and that is that this new game is pretty much unlike any of the other previous titles in the series. This time through, Electronic Arts is breaking new ground for the series, and is going to the streets for racing flava this time through. Underground is all about street racing, which is seeming to be the next big thing in racing titles as the Midnight Club series has proven. But I am hopeful for something in this new game, and that is I hope that it's able to bring a new style to the street racing genre. I am a fan of Midnight Club, but let's face the truth. Midnight Club lacks many key components that prevent it from being the ultimate in street racing titles. Street Racing Syndicate and a game based on The Fast and the Furious are two other street titles currently in development, but from videos and playing demos of these two games at E3, they are shaping up to be quite lackluster. So far, Underground has terrific graphics, sound, and most important of all, gameplay and speed physics. The San-Francisco based city that the game takes place in looks sharp as well as nearly everything else that I have seen so far. EA has even brought in an Academy-Award winning special effects designer to help them in the game's building process. As far as Midnight Club goes, it lacks in sound, graphics, and above all, the game lacks in gameplay and style. Midnight Club and Midnight Club II both bored me just a week or so after playing them. Another poor feature of the MC series is average multiplayer racing. Underground is working very hard to be a great multiplayer experience on the PS2, and the multiplayer looks awesome so far. Another thing that I am excited about is customization. No other NFS titles have included customization to a heavy degree, but Underground does. You will start out driving, let's say, a normal Ford Focus, but depending on how you handle things, it could become the most awesome car on the streets. Yes, the series does look like that maybe it slowed down its gameplay a little bit, and another reason for this is because at least in the earlier stages of development for this game, it was possible to completely destroy your car, and it took a load of cash to repair. The slower pace may dissapoint some gamers, but I really don't have a problem with it. EA has never let me down, and let's all hope that they put enough time into Need For Speed Underground to make it a street racing masterpiece!

Having recently received the Cars Videogame I can say that its a fun translation of the big screen action. There is an arcade mode where you can race for the Piston Cup as Lightning McQueen of Darrel Cartrip. Its a nice little cartoon racer. One of the cool features is that as you make your way through the pack, you can see the places of the next several cars ahead of you. The numbers float above the cars as you would see on the Nascar coverage.

There is also the story mode. Taking a page from the GTA world you are set loose in the open ended world of Radiator Springs where you must accomplish various tasks. All of the landmarks from the movie are on hand as are the voices from the film.

Cars, the Videogame is nothing revolutionary. It borders on the 'almost too easy', then again... its likely be marketed to the kids who want all of the other Cars goodies. If you are a Pixar fan or are looking for a family-friendly GTA experience, then by all means, check out Cars for the PS2.

Playstation 2 Slim Travel Case

Playstation 2 Slim Travel Case

I just got this product within a timely matter (kudos to Amazon for their shipping methodsd). I like this product and would recommend it to anyone looking for a way to carry their playstation 2 around or just protect it while not in use. Don't expect to carry more than one or two games in it though. I only have two controllers, so I can't say for sure, but I don't think that four would fit into the bag either. It's a great case, butd it's a tight squeeze for the console (slim silver one), the console, cords, and one game.
