Gameplay and Multiplayer

In BioShock 2 players will take on the role of the original Big Daddy, not that of game one protagonist, Jack. As a Big Daddy you will have access to all the strengths and weapons of a standard Big Daddy, including the drill and rivet gun. More importantly you also possess free will and the ability to use plasmids and gene tonics — genetic modifications allowed for through ADAM, a stem cell harvested from conquered enemies, or sea slugs outside the Rapture air lock, and powered by the in-game injectable serum known as EVE, which can be found, captured or purchased. Plasmids and gene tonics provide a wide range of aggressive and passive abilities which can be upgraded and arranged for quick use. The ability to use plasmids and tonics gives you a decided edge over other Big Daddies and most other denizens of Rapture, excluding the powerful Big Sisters. In addition, due to their role as a Big Daddy, players will experience a new relation to the Little Sisters. Upon defeating standard Big Daddys you are given the familiar choice as to whether to harvest or adopt them. Harvesting gains you ADAM immediately, but could alter your path through the game, while adopting makes you responsible for Little Sisters, who then accompany you through Rapture, but also provide aid and warning in times of danger. Additional gameplay features include: new plasmids, weapons and the ability to combine these two.

The game also features the anticipated multiplayer modes. Several of these are team-based, allowing up to 10 players. Within these players are provided with a rich prequel experience that expands the origins of the BioShock fiction, and allows you to play as one of several characters pulled from Rapture's history before the events of the first game.

Need for Speed Underground

Need for Speed Underground

By C. Conard "ExtremeAvalanche" (Fort Collins, CO) -  reviews

Any fan of the Need For Speed series will be able to tell one thing from Need for Speed Underground, and that is that this new game is pretty much unlike any of the other previous titles in the series. This time through, Electronic Arts is breaking new ground for the series, and is going to the streets for racing flava this time through. Underground is all about street racing, which is seeming to be the next big thing in racing titles as the Midnight Club series has proven. But I am hopeful for something in this new game, and that is I hope that it's able to bring a new style to the street racing genre. I am a fan of Midnight Club, but let's face the truth. Midnight Club lacks many key components that prevent it from being the ultimate in street racing titles. Street Racing Syndicate and a game based on The Fast and the Furious are two other street titles currently in development, but from videos and playing demos of these two games at E3, they are shaping up to be quite lackluster. So far, Underground has terrific graphics, sound, and most important of all, gameplay and speed physics. The San-Francisco based city that the game takes place in looks sharp as well as nearly everything else that I have seen so far. EA has even brought in an Academy-Award winning special effects designer to help them in the game's building process. As far as Midnight Club goes, it lacks in sound, graphics, and above all, the game lacks in gameplay and style. Midnight Club and Midnight Club II both bored me just a week or so after playing them. Another poor feature of the MC series is average multiplayer racing. Underground is working very hard to be a great multiplayer experience on the PS2, and the multiplayer looks awesome so far. Another thing that I am excited about is customization. No other NFS titles have included customization to a heavy degree, but Underground does. You will start out driving, let's say, a normal Ford Focus, but depending on how you handle things, it could become the most awesome car on the streets. Yes, the series does look like that maybe it slowed down its gameplay a little bit, and another reason for this is because at least in the earlier stages of development for this game, it was possible to completely destroy your car, and it took a load of cash to repair. The slower pace may dissapoint some gamers, but I really don't have a problem with it. EA has never let me down, and let's all hope that they put enough time into Need For Speed Underground to make it a street racing masterpiece!

Having recently received the Cars Videogame I can say that its a fun translation of the big screen action. There is an arcade mode where you can race for the Piston Cup as Lightning McQueen of Darrel Cartrip. Its a nice little cartoon racer. One of the cool features is that as you make your way through the pack, you can see the places of the next several cars ahead of you. The numbers float above the cars as you would see on the Nascar coverage.

There is also the story mode. Taking a page from the GTA world you are set loose in the open ended world of Radiator Springs where you must accomplish various tasks. All of the landmarks from the movie are on hand as are the voices from the film.

Cars, the Videogame is nothing revolutionary. It borders on the 'almost too easy', then again... its likely be marketed to the kids who want all of the other Cars goodies. If you are a Pixar fan or are looking for a family-friendly GTA experience, then by all means, check out Cars for the PS2.

I just got this product within a timely matter (kudos to Amazon for their shipping methodsd). I like this product and would recommend it to anyone looking for a way to carry their playstation 2 around or just protect it while not in use. Don't expect to carry more than one or two games in it though. I only have two controllers, so I can't say for sure, but I don't think that four would fit into the bag either. It's a great case, butd it's a tight squeeze for the console (slim silver one), the console, cords, and one game.

When it comes to video games, the one that raised gaming up by several notches is the Playstation 2 or PS2 as its endearing fans call it. It remains a major player in the video game ring with new games being published for it each year. Its large repertory of games helps it enjoy continued popularity. The PlayStation-2 computer entertainment system is small, slim and network ready. It has a game library of over 1,400 games to choose from. The redesigned PlayStation2 inherits the basic functions and design philosophy of earlier PS2 systems, but the internal design architecture has been completely overhauled to include the latest technologies. Renew your current PS2. If you're just getting into videogames, the PS2 is a great place to start. Play DVD videos and audio CD discs on your PS2 DualShock analog controller with pressure sensitivity on every action button (up to 255 levels) and the enhanced mobility of the analog thumbsticks

First off, all the people that have tried to ban this game, and others like it, without even seeing it, or playing it, this is just an example of how ignorant you are. You base your actions upon what you hear and read about a product, without ever bothering to try the actual prodcut. Shame on you. And, all you're doing, in the end, is generating more sales for bad games, if they are bad. The best way to stop bad products is no one buy them!

Now, with the rant out of the way, on to the game review--it's not that great. Many of us "GTA Type Game" fans waited more than two years for this, being led to believe it would be similar, that is, "open ended" with a variety of things to do and freedom to explore a virtual world. Would you escape the ghetto and get revenge on your family's killers are "Freeze," or clean up the city and save lives as a cop?

The actual game is nothing more than a linear first person shooter where you have to kill several enemies per level before they kill you. The AI is horrible. You have no choices. You can't drive anywhere. You have to hit enemies like 5 headshots to kill them; usually before you can do that youre dead (because even from a mile away they can hit you with accuracy). it sucks. Don't waste your money.

The best game in my opionion so far is Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. For those of you who whine about how "Bad and violent" it is, that part is up to the player. If you want, you can stay in Los Santos for months, not kill a single person, and make millions of dollars betting at the OTB and driving the taxi, buying all the safehouses, working out at the gym, etc. And not kill one person, if you don't want to. So, I say again, try products for yourself before you try to ban them. it's part of being a grown up. But you'll never undertand. Peace

When playing this game I could really appreciate the fact that it is well made and that the graphics are outstanding. The gameplay however was not up my alley. I thought it was going to be more of a racer that had jumps included, but a good part of the game consists in stringing together jumps and tricks in order to increase your boost. Those that are looking for this kind of experience won't be disappointed, but if you are like me, and you are looking for an experience more along the lines of games like Motorstorm, you may not find this one to be the best option.

This controller has an interesting look to it. The handles themselves are full of liquid and when the blue lights shine through the liquid it throws off an underwater look to anything nearby. It gives a different feel from regular lighted controllers. I use this controller over any of my other ones now.

Sonic Mega Collection

Sonic Mega Collection

By N. Durham "Big Evil" (Philadelphia, PA) -  reviews

Anyone old enough to remember SEGA's glory days with their 16-bit Genesis system will no doubt remember the old Sonic the Hedgehog games. Sonic Mega Collection Plus features all of the SEGA mascot's appearances on the classic console, as well as six titles from SEGA's portable Game Gear system. Genesis titles include Sonic 1, 2, and 3; as well as Sonic & Knuckles, Sonic Spinball, Sonic 3-D Blast, and the puzzler Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine. The Game Gear titles include Sonic 1, Sonic Labyrinth, Sonic Drift, Sonic Chaos, Sonic Blast, and Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine; and there are unlockable games including the Knuckles add-on stages as well as Comix Zone, Ristar, Flicky, and the Ooze. The games are wonderfully emulated and the Genesis games still look crisp and respond well, but not all the games here are great. Sonic 3-D Blast (one of the last Genesis games) is abysmal, and most of the Game Gear titles, specifically Sonic Labyrinth, Sonic Drift, and Sonic Blast, are pretty shoddy. Despite that, there's plenty here for longtime Sonic fans to love, including the big plus of having the underrated classic Comix Zone as an unlockable, and a horde of extras as well. However, there are some glaring omissions here, such as the Game Gear title Sonic Triple Trouble, the Sega CD title Sonic CD, as well as the Saturn racing title Sonic R and Sonic the Fighters, and the 32X title Knuckles Chaotix. Despite all that, Sonic Mega Collection Plus is a must own for Sonic fans or for fans of retro gaming, and for the price of what you get here, this is a deal that can't be beat.

PS2 16 Meg Max Memory Card

PS2 16 Meg Max Memory Card

By C. Tiong (Utah) -  reviews

This review is from: PS2 32 Meg Max Memory Card (Accessory)

This is the new 8 97459 00003 9 model. After you have 10MB of saved files on the memory card, games can no longer save to it. Some games will saved a corrupt file, or unable to save, or giving error there's no memory card.

PS2 also can't copy any saved games from another memory card to this 32MB memory card once it has 10MB of saved files.

If I delete some saved files to free up the memory card to less than 10MB of usage, any games will be able to save to it.

My theory is PS2 has problem writing to the memory card once it has 10MB of saved files.
