Ferrari Universal 5-in-1 Challenge Wheel

Ferrari Universal 5-in-1 Challenge Wheel

By Aheg (Los Angeles, CA) -  reviews

I purchased this for my 11 year old daughter, as she wanted a "real" racing wheel with pedals for the Wii. It was easy to set up (just plug it in) and, it worked right away. After launching Mario Kart Wii with the wii remote, the Thrustmaster wheel functions like an additional wii remote for choosing characters and races. The pedals work for acceleration and braking, and, I find that the racing wheel has a nice feel to it. It can be set to one of two sensitivity settings.

I also found a sheet showing the button presets for Mario Kart on the Thrustmater support website. For instance, the brake pedal also functions as a drift button. My daughter loves it. She races with my 14 year old son, who uses the Wii wheel that came with the game. But they both prefer using the Thrustmaster racing wheel, as it is easier to use and more "fun," than the standard Wii wheel.

NOTE: Check the Thrustmaster website: go to "Tech Support--Downloads--Game Settings" for the list of compatible games for this wheel.

I thought this was going to be small when I ordered it. After I got it out of the box and plugged it in I was blown away! I just got finished ordering another set! I use them to DJ at a small club and we do not have the room for a complex light setup. I put these over the speakers and everyone was impressed! They are cool and worth the price.

PlayStation 2

PlayStation 2 Console - Black

PlayStation 2 Console - Black

By Slade's Downfall -  reviews

I bought one of the old PS2 systems when it came out and it worked very well. It was my DVD player as well as my video game console. When I went on vacation I accidentally left it on and it fried. After five good years of service, it finally died.

I had to buy a replacement and so I bought the slimmer version. It works just as well as the other one did and takes up a lot less space on my TV stand. It plays all my games and my DVDs, so I am very satisfied with this Sony product.

I refuse to buy a PlayStation 3 just because I refuse to spend a great wad of cash for a video game console. And with the new Black and White PS3 systems that are being released in November which do not feature PlayStation 2 compatibility, I don't see why I should buy a PS3 right now when it means I'd have to keep my PlayStation 2 just to play my PS2 games is pointless.

If you're looking for a good game system for a low price, buy the PlayStation 2, it's very good for games and DVDs, especially since WII doesn't play DVDs.

Universal Microphone Stand

Universal Microphone Stand

By Gregory G. Kergosien III "Gaines" (Nashville,TN) -  reviews

What you see is what you get...and that's all. The spring loaded microphone stand is decent and the microphone clip is very nice. I love the ability to hang your wireless controllers on the stand and even use one of the extra controller clips to hang my guitar (by the strap). I have one major complaint which keeps this product from rating five stars: nobody sells additional controller clips. You receive three clips, one for each major console system (xbox 360, PS3 and wii). If you're like me and only want one microphone stand, but would like to hang all your controllers on it, you're out of luck. I suggest writing your own review and posting your contact information so other buyers can email you and organize a trade. That's what I did and now I have three Xbox clips and just hang my Wii remotes from their cords.

Rock Band Drum Silencers

Rock Band Drum Silencers

At first I got the drum pad silencers and held them up to the rock band drum pads and thought "this isn't going to work." Check out your RB drums. You'll notice a thin plastic rim around each drum. Well I expected these drum pads to fit inside that ring. Nope, if you stuck them on, they would go over the ring and then sort of float on top of the actual drum pad and MAYBE make contact in the center, where the pressure transducer is that picks up your drum strikes.

So, to install these drum pads, you must TAKE OFF THE PLASTIC RIM around the drums. It takes a few minutes, but isn't hard. You have to pull the striking part of each drum off individually. It takes a lot of force, but be careful not to yank out the wire underneath. If you look at your RB drums from below, you'll notice 3 or 4 small rubber wedges sticking through the plastic base. These are what hold the drums into the frame. Once you've pulled off a drum pad, unscrew the plastic rim, take it off, and reassemble the drum (make sure all the rubber pieces are back in place, sometimes they stay attached to the drum surface half and need to be taken off and screwed back into the base. Push the drum pad back onto the base and make sure all 4 rubber feet click into place. THEN stick the drum silencer onto the drum pad.

After performing the installation as I mentioned above, these pads make the RB drums much much much quieter and WAY more pleasant to play, especially in groups or at night. There are no installation instructions included with this kit, but there should be.

Another option is to trim the pads so they fit inside the plastic rim. I thought it would be easier and cleaner looking to remove the plastic rim instead.

With this little item and a portable DVD player, you can use your PS2 to keep your kids occupied on road trips. Wish I had thought of buying one sooner.

After purchasing this product through Amazon.com, I received my new Playstation2 Power Max adapter within a week. Shipping was pretty fast and the product arrived safely and works as expected. My only complaint is that I paid nearly $19 plus shipping for this item. I have since found a supplier that sells the genuine Sony power adapter for just under $25, and with FREE shipping! Although you can tell that this adapter is not made by Sony, it seems to work just fine. If it holds up well then I will have no complaints. However, if I had known that I could purchase a genuine Sony adapter for about the same price (after what I paid for shipping of this item), I would have certainly done that. Still, this product seems to be good quality and works very well. If you are in a pinch, need a new power adapter fast, and don't care that it is not original equipment, you can feel confident about purchasing this alternative product. =o)

Playstation 2 SingStar Wired Microphones

Playstation 2 SingStar Wired Microphones

By C. Scott (San Francisco, CA USA) -  reviews

After reading some of the reviews here I just wasn't sure if these were totally PS3 compatible. But since the box they come in says they are I decided I had to at least try. Sure enough these works like a charm.

Me and my girlfriend are having a lot of fun with duets. Her gaining the higher scores. Me bringing down our overall score again and again. It's a great game of tug-of-war we play between her talent and my complete lack thereof. But she's always telling me I'm better then I think I am, even while I'm looking at my miserable score, and we really have a lot of fun together playing SingStar. I think that's where the strength of this game really lies.

I'm sure it's a lot of fun playing solo as well, but I really recommend all the SingStar games for couples. And for everyone looking for SingStar mics, either as replacements or addons to your stand-alone copies of a SingStar game, then these mics will work on either your PS2 or PS3.

Now if only I could find some stand-alone wireless mics for this game...

I purchased GT5 Prologue and played for 2 days using the Dual Shock controller, while the game was fun, I was having trouble running well on several tracks. Over the weekend, I went to a local store which had GTP5 and the racing wheel setup as a display. After sitting down and using the wheel for about 10 minutes, I knew it was a must have. The wheel itself feels well made of durable products, the rubber on the wheel makes it very comfortable. It also has reduced my times in the races where I have used the wheel. The setup was easy and control layout is easy learn. Some reviews I have seen discount the wheel because it does not have a clutch or shifter with actual gears set out. But with the $100 I saved, I am willing to live without theses features.

There are a few downsides, I was hoping for a wireless wheel, but it connects to the PS3 with a USB cable. However, the cable is a good length and allows you plenty of space to move across a room. Also, you have to plug the wheel into an electrical outlet. While this makes for more wires, it also allows for some great force feedback and opposed to a rumble effect.

I am looking forward to using the wheel with upcoming racing games and some old ones. And my favorite thing about the wheel, it the GT logo that lights up in the center of the wheel.

My advise is to get the wheel if you can. Now if they would only release the full GT5 (with damage to the cars please!)

Wanted to update this review to mention the product I found to use the Racing Wheel. I tried small tables, a tv tray and an IKEA laptop table. None of them worked because of they were to tall or short and the tables that could be adjusted were to wobbly or slipped. After much searching, I found the Wheel Stand Pro which is made in Poland. Unfortunately, it was more expensive than the Racing Wheel, but it was a great buy. You can adjust the height, angle of the wheel and distance to the pedals. It is made of steel so it is solid and has sturdy clamps to fold it up and store easily. If you are looking for a great way to use your Racing Wheel, I highly recommend you check out Wheel Stand Pro site. Also, shipping was great. They emailed me on a Friday the stand was on the way and I received it on Monday.
